Dr. Emily Mahar Cannon is a practicing Naturopathic Physician in Middlebury, VT. Born and raised in Vermont, Dr. Mahar Cannon graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in biology and attended Naturopathic Medical school at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. She practiced for 2 years in Camden, Maine before she returned to the Green Mountains to open her private practice, “Integrated Medicine” in 2008 with her a husband, Dr. Nicholas Cannon DC. Together they run a multidimensional clinic offering an array of chiropractic and naturopathic care. Dr. Mahar Cannon specializes in digestive, metabolic and endocrine related disorders, such as irritable bowel syndrome, obesity, high cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension and thyroid disease. However she also treats many patients with insomnia, depression, anxiety, arthritis, eczema and menopause symptoms. Naturopathic Physicians are uniquely trained and licensed to use both conventional medicine and natural therapies, often referred to as “Complimentary and Alternative Medicine.” Naturopathic Physicians bill insurance, order hospital tests and labs and can prescribe pharmaceutical medications when needed. However, their specialty training in natural medicine provides them with the foundation from which they evaluate and treat their patients. Therapies often include: botanical preparations, diet and nutritional prescriptions, body-mind therapies, physical medicine therapies, and less well understood energy therapies such as homeopathy and acupuncture. Philosophically, Dr. Mahar Cannon tries to guide each of her patients down the path to improved health and well being by providing holistic care in a setting that encourages the patient to take an active role in their healthcare.

Growing up in Ohio, I loved spending time outside, playing soccer and tennis, swimming, and learning science and math. After high school, I started a biological science bachelors program at Wright State University in Dayton, OH and received my group fitness certification. I realized I wanted to become a chiropractor after seeing a sports chiropractor for a running injury. I then transferred to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa to complete my bachelors of general science and doctorate of chiropractic. My love of winter and hiking drew me to move to Vermont post-graduation.
Outside of work, I love being a dog mom to my 20lb fluffy puppy and trying new restaurants with my partner.
I love being active and doing anything outdoors. I also teach fitness classes and especially enjoy teaching yoga. I can’t live without coffee and chocolate, and I love traveling.
I have a special interest in women’s health but welcome all patients of all ages, level of athletic ability, and gender presentation. I’m looking forward to getting to know you and help you reach your health goals!
